Transport arrangements
The international arrivals terminal is at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Nairobi from where participants will be picked and onward travels facilitated. In order to assist us provide technical support, we are requesting participants to kindly submit their flight schedules as soon as possible.

Transport costs
Kindly note that participants are expected to meet all their transport costs which includes transfers from the airport and the journey to Kalacha. The rate of vehicle hire is USD 250 per day which covers daily hire, drivers allowances and vehicle insurance. The vehicle is provided with full tank of fuel and to be returned the same.Participants are advised to share a vehicle and thus the cost.

Accommodation in Nairobi
The rates range between USD 80 and USD 240 per singe bed and breakfast

Travel schedule
Nairobi-Marsabit
We will depart Nairobi at 8:00am and expect to arrive in Marsabit at around 5:00pm. Expect that the road leading to Marsabit is rough and dusty.
The 700 km journey from Nairobi takes travellers through the fertile areas of the Central Highlands past the equator town of Nanyuki,  the snow-caped Mt Kenya and onwards to Isiolo town where you will stop for lunch.

The drive from Isiolo to Marsabit, situated 262 km further north, passes by the Samburu game reserve and in to a beautiful wild country with undulating arid plains and occasional volcanic outcrops. A long the way are found the Rendille and the Samburu people. We shall spend the night in Marsabit town, a commercial centre alive with diversity of cultures.

Accommodation rates in Marsabit in modest lodgings range between USD 20.00 to 30.00   

Marsabit-Kalacha

We depart Marsabit at 8am on April 13 and expect to arrive in Kalacha at 1pm after a 146 km drive through a lava strewn desert.

Accommodation in Kalacha is available by way of bandas, 2-man tents and dormitories. The rates vary from USD 5 to USD 10 per person per day (bed only)

 Guests may bring own tents and sleeping bags if they so wish.

Food and drinks

Foods and drinks are available at affordable prices.

Travel by air: Marsabit and Kalacha can be accessed by chartered planes from the Wilson Airport in Nairobi . Rate for Wilson Airport – Kalacha Mission return

The return trip will commence on April the 16th, arriving Nairobi on the evening of April the 17th.
